These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of LingoBeats (the "Service"), an educational platform for learning languages through music available at https://lingobeats.app. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

LingoBeats is an editorial and educational product that:

  • Publishes original analysis of songs (meaning, vocabulary, cultural context, pronunciation tips).
  • Catalogues artists, albums, languages and genres using public metadata from third parties (Spotify, Wikipedia).
  • Offers learning tools: flashcards, quizzes, study progress tracking, gamification (streaks, XP).
  • Does not reproduce full copyrighted lyrics. Only short, transformative fragments (≤ 300 characters per song) are quoted for commentary and educational purposes.

The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial educational use.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, if higher). By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

You may sign up with email and password, or via Google or Spotify OAuth. You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your credentials confidential.
  • All activity that occurs under your account.
  • Providing accurate information.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3.1 Signing in with Spotify

If you choose to sign in with Spotify, we receive only your email, display name, profile picture URL and Spotify user ID — the minimum required by the user-read-email and user-read-private scopes. We do not access your playlists, listening history, library or any other Spotify data. You can revoke our access at any time from your Spotify account settings.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl or mass-download content from the Service.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, disable or interfere with the platform.
  • Use the Service to harass, defame or harm others.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, infringing or invasive of privacy.
  • Use the Service to train competing AI models or republish our editorial content without permission.
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others.

5. Intellectual property

5.1 Our content

All editorial content on LingoBeats — analysis, meanings, vocabulary explanations, cultural notes, articles and curated playlists — is created by LingoBeats and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works without our written permission, except for short quotations with attribution for personal, non-commercial educational purposes.

5.2 Third-party content

  • Song titles, artist names, album titles and album covers are used nominatively to identify works and remain the property of their respective rights holders.
  • Cover art displayed in the catalogue is sourced from Spotify; we do not claim ownership.
  • Lyric snippets are reproduced under fair-use / fair-dealing principles for commentary and education; we cap snippets at 300 characters and never publish full lyrics.

5.3 Copyright claims

If you believe content on LingoBeats infringes your copyright, please file a claim through /legal/copyright or contact legal@lingobeats.app. We respond to valid claims promptly.

6. User-generated content

When you create custom playlists, comments or other contributions, you grant LingoBeats a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute that content within the Service. You retain ownership of your content and are responsible for its legality.

7. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third parties (Google, Spotify, Wikipedia, OpenAI, Sentry, CapRover). Your use of those integrations is also governed by their respective terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we link to but do not control.

8. Subscriptions and payments

The Service is free at this time. If we introduce paid tiers in the future, separate terms will apply and you will be notified before any charge.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Editorial content is offered in good faith for educational purposes but we do not warrant that it is exhaustive, error-free or suitable for any specific use (e.g., academic citation, professional translation).

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LingoBeats and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LingoBeats and its operators from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity or to comply with applicable law.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive (IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive termination.

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes are announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
